Each year the County Clerk’s Office is responsible for conducting a tax sale on the delinquent tax bills. During the tax sale, the delinquent tax bills are eligible to be purchased by a third party. On April 16th, the Allen County Sheriff will turn over the unpaid tax bills to the County Clerk’s Office. The tax sale may occur no earlier than 90 days and no later than 135 days after the bills have been turned over to the County Clerk’s Office. The actual date of the sale will be determined by the Revenue Department and will be posted on their website https://revenue.ky.gov/. The delinquent bills must be advertised no more than 45 days and no less than 30 days before the tax sale.
Forms must be completed and mailed or brought in person to our office location.
The list of certificates of delinquency is available for inspection on this website is updated weekly. It is also available for inspection during normal business hours at the clerk’s office located at 201 west main street, room 6, Scottsville, KY 42164.
The deadline to register for participation in tax sale, submission of prior year certificate lists, and submission of current certificates to purchase lists are August 8th, 2022, at 4:30 P.M. CST with the county clerk’s office. Most third-party purchasers must first register with the state. Visit https://revenue.ky.gov to see if you are required to do so.
The current year list of certificates you submit should be in alphabetical order. It must include the bill number, the taxpayer name, either the property address or map code number, and the amount due for each bill. A total amount due for all certificates on this list should also be included.
